New to St John's?

Welcome! Whether you've just moved to the area, or have lived here all your life - we hope the website helps you find out what you want to know about St John's Walthamstow.

Key info about the church...

When & where does the church meet?

The church meets twice every Sunday at 9.15am and 11.00am for our Sunday Services.

9.15 Holy Communion service

In our Holy Communion serivce, we follow the traditional service order and we sing mainly traditional hymns, accompanied by an organ. In both of our services, our focus is on listening to God's word as it is read and explained.

11.00 Family service

Our family service is informal, with a growing number of children of all ages, plus a lively Messy church for kids of primary school age and a creche for under 4s. We sing a mixture of traditional and contemporary songs which reflect biblical truth. As with the first service, we hear a talk from a passage of the Bible as part of a sermon series. Often there is an opportunity for children of secondary school age to ask the preacher questions separately after the sermon.

3rd Sunday of the month is Family Communion (no Messy Church)

We meet at the church building in Walthamstow. The address is:

St John's Church
18 Brookscroft Road
E17 4LH

You can see a map on our Contact Us page

There is parking available on the site.

What to expect when I visit the church

You can expect a warm welcome, great worship, an impacting sermon and a friendly bunch of people gathering to learn more about God.

Also tea, coffee and biscuits!

What happens to the kids at church?

We have the 'Messy Church' for the kids at church for ages 4-12. Children stay with their parents at the start of the service as we worship (sing songs!) together for the first part of the service. The speaker will make it clear where and when children need to go to their programme. You will need to go with your children and register them.

Children can expect to have fun playing games, and learning about God in a relevant way.
